Fencescape Dream No. 2

The works in the Fencescape Dream series are mixed media drawings on mylar, consisting of colored pencil and spray paint. Each work is two layers of mylar joined together.

The fencescape (fence+landscape) is the psychic space of the borderlands. Exploring the psychological, emotional and memory space of the interiority of the self, the resulting space is atmospheric with references to land, water and the celestial. In constant flux, the multivalent space moves beyond the physical borderlands and geopolitical sites where migration occurs in order for new possibilities to emerge, and a new understanding of the undocumented condition to be known. Like a cosmic escape into a futuristic fantasy, the psychic space is a boundless safe space to retreat towards.

The works make use of luminous color layering, and play on a semi-translucent material that captures the inherent potential for abstraction to make meaning and logic.
