Miami Art Tour

Embarking on the inaugural Domingo Art Tour to Miami Art Basel 2023 next week is not just a cultural venture—it's a personal milestone. This year, I'm thrilled to introduce a group of inspiring women collectors to the week that fuels my passion for art. In 2022, the anticipation of Miami Art Week drove me to book flights just six weeks after having a newborn, providing a beacon of creative energy through those early months.

In the spirit of shared enthusiasm, I'm eager to highlight some of the fairs, galleries, and artists I'm most looking forward to during the week. Whether you're attending in person or following along from afar, I hope this sneak peek creates a touch of excitement and good vibes as we enter into December.

UNTITLED ART FAIR

Stepping into UNTITLED Art Fair, renowned for its commitment to emerging artists, the focus is on unearthing hidden gems. Among the highlights is Luce Gallery; I consistently enjoy their presentation of works by Zeh Palito. I'm thrilled to introduce collectors to the vibrant energy of Kravets Wehby, particularly their unveiling of stunning new works by Maria Yolanda Liebana. Last year's discoveries, such as Laura Noguera’s work at SGR Gallery, left a lasting impression and I'm eager to revisit them. NIL Gallery presents four artists, including one of my favorites, vanessa german, whose solo exhibition at the Montclair Art Museum earlier this year was transcendent. Dinner Gallery, fresh from a fantastic curation at The Armory Show, will showcase two artists—Anna Ortiz and Sophia Belkin—whom I believe my collectors will enjoy discovering.

NADA ART FAIR

NADA Art Fair continues its dedication to the advancement of new voices in contemporary art in it’s 21st edition. Our first stop will be Deanna Evans Projects booth for Polly Shindler's solo exhibition. Given my enjoyment of Deanna Evan Projects and SHRINE’s New York spaces - it will be fascinating to see their exhibitions in this new environment for the first time. What has been most enjoyable about designing this tour is incorporating personal elements for my collectors into the program. With a few friends flying in from the Bay Area, we'll be making stops at Oakland’s Creative Growth, Et al.’s  two-person booth with painters Rema Ghuloum and Jay Payton, and Rebecca Camacho Presents, aiming to forge long-lasting connections and new relationships with artists and galleries for my clients beyond the fair. YoungArts always promises great discoveries during Miami Art Week; always compelling and accessible artwork for new collectors. I’m also excited to visit The Sunday Painter while in Miami. It’s always great to visit galleries you’ve experienced in other cities and of course London holds a special place in my heart.

ART BASEL

Finally, ART BASEL, the pinnacle of Miami Art Week, unfolds as the tour’s grand finale. We're eager to delve into the works presented by Luis De Jesus Los Angeles in the Nova sector to start, featuring a dynamic installation of new works by Edra Soto, Hector Dionicio Mendoza, and Ken Gonzales-Day. These three Latinx artists employ cultural memory as the landscape and lens through which to explore themes of race, migration, colonialism, and the erasure of history, expressed through sculpture, mixed media, and photography. Pilar Corrias and Goodman Gallery, stalwarts in the art world, promise curated experiences that resonate with our mission.

A Domingo favorite, Veronica Fernandez, will be presenting with Pippy Houldsworth Gallery. Her work mesmerizes me, and last year was the first time I had the opportunity to view her work in person, so I'm very much looking forward to sharing this with my guests. Casas Riegner from Bogotá, representing artists such as Beatriz González, one of the reasons Domingo Comms even exists, will be one of our first stops. The gallery’s proposal is conceived as a dialogue between pioneer Colombian artists Beatriz González, Debora Arango, Feliza Bursztyn, and mid-career artists Leyla Cárdenas and Bernardo Ortiz.

Can’t wait to see David Zwirner’s booth featuring artists Lucas Arruda, Óscar Murillo, and Félix González Torres. Galeria Augustina Ferreyra and Proyectos Ultraviolet will also offer glimpses into the thriving Latin American art scene.

To end the week-long tour, I’m excited to have organized a tour of Meridians, which showcases large-scale sculptures, paintings, and installations going beyond the traditional art fair booth layout. It will feature 19 projects this year, curated for the fourth consecutive year by Mexico City-based curator and Director of Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporaneo, Magalí Arriola.
